Quiet Routes as alternatives to Botley Road – Oatlands Park

The route through Oatlands Park works quite well, with it’s narrowness discouraging cycling at excess speed (fast cyclists simply take to the grass). However it is now quite old and bulging in places from tree roots. Some of the links up to the side roads could be improved, with cyclists often having to squeeze between posts and bushes, and some links difficult with a pushchair. The paths across King George’s Field have proved popular, but are breaking up under the traffic and occasional flooding. A tarmac path would survive better.
