Not Difficult, But Need Discussion
These are notable problems, but further work is needed to identify an agreeable cost-effective solution.
Side Roads
- Roger Dudman Way – Install pavement, at least from a ramp up from Cripley Road to the river bridge. This involves some loss of parking, but is the minimum acceptable – much of this parking appears to be from the "car-free" development. Build-outs adjacent to humps to stop driving round. Cycle bypasses of humps to make them passable with a child in a trailer. Footway or shared-use space beyond the nursery.
- Osney Court – Improve the main driveway, to clarify priorities for cars turning (across the bus lane, cycle track and pavement), and entering the "shared space" inside Osney Court.
- Abbey Road – Possible candidate for traffic calming (maybe a narrowing or chicane approaching the junction)
Quiet Routes as alternatives to Botley Road
- New link east-west behind Wickes, connecting the informal quiet route through to North Hinksey Lane
- Improvements to cycle track on Botley Road (south side) from Wickes to the shops at Botley, to make it work better as a two-way cycle route
- Relocate lock-keepers hut to south end of lock, and install fence, to allow cycling at lock
- Improved cycle provision along Ferry Hinksey Road from School to Willow Walk (possibly cycle track on edge of road)
- Improved cycle provision on Osney Mead Industrial Estate Road from Willow Walk to King’s Centre (on road cycle lanes, or improve/widen northern pavement)
