West Oxford's all-ability non-selective Academy continues tonight with the sixth of eight Tuesday sessions :The Bletchley Park Story

Miranda Miller 8 March *Origins of the Spanish Civil War: the Second Spanish Republic 1931-1936.
Stephen Lynam 15 MarchTickets £1.50 per session - includes nibbles and a glass of wine (red or white) or soft drink.
Each session consists of a 15-20 minute talk by a local resident, followed by questions and informal discussion over a glass of wine.

A one day course on the history and development of West OxfordThis course is open to all - you do not need to have any connection with Oxford University
From the western gate of the castle to the modern day city boundary, this area contains some of Oxfords most important sites the monastic houses of Rewley and Osney, the suburb of St Thomass and the site of significant industrial and commercial activity.
This day school will explore some of the main themes in the development of this historic area outside the city walls and its relationship to the city within.

(Liz Woolley is an energetic local history researcher,speaker, and leader of local historical walks. Her work includes a number of articles on Osney and St Thomas' Parish.)12.15 pm Discussion

1.30 pm Backdoor conquistador : the coming of the railways Rob Kinchin-Smith
2.15 pm West Oxford since 1850 Malcolm Graham.
(Malcolm is a well-known speaker in and about West Oxford. He is the former Head of Oxfordshire Studies with Oxfordshire County Council, author of The Changing faces of West Oxford, and has contributed numerous articles on West Oxford's history to the first series of West Oxford News.)

Allotment site shop open to all on Sunday mornings
The Osney Allotment Association shop is open on Sunday mornings 10 am 12 noon
It sells tools and materials at very low prices. West Oxford residents are honorary members of the Association, and you can buy goods from the shop even if you do not have a plot.
If you have unwanted tools to dispose of, bring them here for recycling.
